AN elderly woman had to be given hospital treatment for injuries she sustained when she was attacked by three youths.
The incident happened on Tuesday at 10pm as the 70-year-old was searching for her dog behind shops in Redhill Road, Stockton.
She was approached by the youths, who were laughing. She then felt herself being forced to the ground, where the youths searched her pockets.
The youths fled, leaving the woman injured and distressed after the fall.
They are described as male, aged 15 to 16, and of average build. One was wearing a green fleece.
The woman received treatment at The University Hospital of North Tees for injuries to her face, hands and body.
Detective Constable Harry Simpson, of Stockton police, said: "This elderly woman only went out for a moment, and it resulted in her being attacked for no reason.
"She has been left extremely traumatised by the incident and we are eager to catch those responsible for this mindless act of violence."
