A DOG lover from Bishop Auckland has joined 77 other children from around the country at a canine camp.
Ella-Kate Nye, 13, took her cavalier King Charles spaniels, Kit and Kye, to the Kennel Club Junior Organisation (KCJO) National Annual Dog Camp at Lackham College, Wiltshire, from August 1 to 7.
The trio were put through their paces, brushing up on their canine skills and enjoying themselves with agility, obedience, show handling, flyball, grooming and training.
KCJO chairman, Eric Smethurst, said: "Children are the future and it is therefore very important that from a young age they learn as much as possible about the many aspects of responsible dog ownership.
"This will enable them to live up to their responsibilities and to pass their knowledge on to others, thus creating an ever widening body of responsible dog owners."
The KCLO was founded in 1985 and has a membership of more than 1,500, aged eight to 18.
