A SUPPORT service for people who care for relatives and friends is moving to a new home in Newton Aycliffe.
The Princess Royal Trust Sedgefield Locality Carers Centre will leave its premises at Upper Dalton Way, in Newton Aycliffe town centre, at the start of next month.
From Monday, September 3, the service will be based at the Pioneering Care Centre, off Burn Lane, Cobblers Hall, and will operate five days a week.
An outreach support group has been established in Fishburn, and will open on Monday, September 10, at the village's youth and community centre. Meetings will be held on the second Monday of the month, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
Other outreach support groups, which meet between 1.30pm and 3.30pm, are: Spennymoor, on alternate Fridays, at the Community Lounge, Hartley Terrace; Ferryhill, on the first Monday of the month at the Community Lounge, Cleves Cross; Shildon, on alternate Wednesdays at the Community Lounge, Garbutt Close; Sedgefield, on alternate Tuesdays at Ceddesfeld Hall; and Trimdon, on alternate Fridays at Trimdon House, Landreth Grove.
The service will be launching a partnership with the local hospices and Hospices at Home scheme in September.
The care centre is looking for volunteers to support the scheme.
Volunteers are also needed for the sitting service, home support scheme, transport scheme and fundraising group.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can contact the centre on (01325) 313123.
