Sedgefield'S Dun Cow Inn once again carried off the first prize in the commercial class of Sedgefield Civic Trust's floral awards competition, winning the George Robinson Trophy.
In second place was the Nags Head Inn, with the Number 4 Tea and Gift Shop in third place.
Highly commended in the section for premises in the conservation area was the police station.
The Doris Etherington Cup for best non-commercial premises in the conservation area went to 8 East Parade (Mr and Mrs I. Sutherland), with runners-up being 9 St Edmund's Terrace (Mrs D. Tate) and 7 St Edmund's Terrace (Mr and Mrs C. Taylor).
The area outside the conservation area was split into two sections. The northern section Monica Cunningham Cup went to 5 Hardwick Road (Mr and Mrs A. Coyle). Runners-up were 27 Elm Avenue (Mr Murtagh), and 29 Whitehouse Drive (Mr and Mrs P. McLoughlin).
Highly commended were 2 Beech Oval (Mr and Mrs N. Daniels), and 12 Conifer Avenue (Mr and Mrs Howlett).
In the southern section, the Monica Waters Cup was won by 10 Claremont Grove (Mr and Mrs E. Sibly). Runners-up were 1 Hadleigh Close (Mrs M. Galley), and 61 Station Road (Mr and Mrs R. Wright).
Highly commended were 30 Eden Drive (Mrs Edmond), and 9 Claremont Grove (Mr and Mrs G. Dale).
Winner of the Eric Lowes Cup for an entry not a first prize winner in the past four years will be announced at the prize presentation on September 7, in the parish hall.
The judge was Chris Smith, of Sedgefield Borough Council.
