SOCCER star Ugo Ehiogu was fined £100 yesterday for failing to produce an insurance certificate after being stopped in his high-powered car.
The 28-year-old England and Middlesbrough player did not appear before magistrates in Selby, North Yorkshire, and instead sent a letter in which he pleaded guilty.
Ehiogu, of Eaglescliffe, Stockton, was also ordered to pay £35 court costs.
A charge of driving without insurance was dropped after Ehiogu sent a valid certificate of insurance for his X-registered Porsche.
The court heard that the centre-back was stopped by police on April 10 on the westbound carriageway of the A64, at Tadcaster.
On that day, Ehiogu has been playing for the Boro reserves against Leeds United reserves at York City's Bootham Crescent Ground.
A full international, Ehiogu played more than 200 games for Aston Villa before being transferred to Middlesbrough last season for £8m.
