TOP show cow Upsall Skychief Gremlin, above, bred by Mr Robin Dickson of Upsall Grange, near Guisborough, is one of six animals chosen for a photographic dairy judging competition to be run by Semex.
Entrants must rank, in order of merit, six Holstein show cattle owned by UK breeders. Each has had major show success and is bred by Canadian Holstein bulls marketed by Semex. Farmers and herdsmen throughout the UK can try for the top prize of a trip to the Canadian Royal winter fair in Toronto. Two runners up will each receive £250-worth of semen from Semex stud bulls.
Photographs of the animals are available from Semex on 0800 868890 and from area sales managers. The closing date for entries is September 1.
l Comestar Lee has become the youngest sire available through artificial insemation to produce a million doses of semen. Aged eight years and seven months, he joins an elite group of 18 sires worldwide to have achieved "millionaire" status and is the fourth Semex bull to reach the target.
