ONE of the region's most popular classic car rallies takes place this weekend.
The eighth annual Kirk-leatham Rally is being staged at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, from 10am to 5pm today and tomorrow.
More than 250 vintage vehicles, including cars, tractors, fairground models and commercial vehicles will be on show.
Among the attractions will be a 1904 Maori traction engine, a Gavioli fairground organ complete with carousel animals, a 1922 Monopole motorcycle and a 1929 Riley Monaco.
Also on display at the event, which last year attracted more than 5,000 visitors, will be the Hoopla, a circular fairground stand with early slot machines, some made by Oliver Whales of Redcar in the 1930s and 1940s.
A park-and-ride scheme, which takes the form of classic buses and horse-pulled wagons, will transport visitors from the car park to the show field.
Admission is free for children aged 16 and under, with a small charge for adults and concessions.
