PROPOSALS for a housing development in a tiny village have been rejected by council planners.
Miller Homes' plans for 23 houses to be built on 4.5 acres of land at Village Farm, in Appleton Wiske, near North-allerton, were turned down by Hambleton District Council's planning committee.
Councillors said they could not give the scheme their support because the site lay in greenfield land and did not include any affordable housing.
The decision was a victory for villagers who campaigned against the proposal, saying it would have added a further 15 per cent to the population of Appleton Wiske.
