POLICE cricketers are padding up for a charity match in memory of a former colleague who died from cancer, in April 1999.
The match is on PC Michael Wright's home ground, at Crook, where he had opened the batting since he was a teenager.
The father-of-four, from Stanhope had been based at Crook for all but one of his 24 years' police service.
Teams from Crook and Bishop Auckland police stations will compete for a trophy dedicated to his memory on Tuesday, September 4, from 1.30pm. Spectators will be welcome.
