THE Madagascan hissing cockroach and giant African land snails will be just two of the attractions at the Big Bug Show at Newcastle's Centre for Life beginning this weekend.
And the more adventurous visitors will have the chance to partake the dubious culinary delights of maggot stew and black African crickets.
The interactive show hosted by Lee Gibbs will also give an entertaining insight into the lives of the Chilean rose tarantula and giant African millipedes.
Director of the multi-million pound centre Linda Conlon said: "Children are fascinated with bugs and mini-beasts and the Big Bug Show gives them and their parents the chance to see and handle some of the world's most exotic mini beasts. It's also a great opportunity for those who have a phobia to tackle it head on in a fun and controlled environment."
The show begins on Saturday, and will run until Monday, August 27. Contact 0191-243 8210 for details
