Darlington Harriers
At the CD Bramhall-sponsored Darlington 10k road race, the Harriers had a memorable day. Bernadette Taylor scored a home victory in the women's race, beating off international Sheila Allen finishing 39th from a field of almost 1,000.
First harrier home was Nigel Orr in 11th , recording 33.51.

Three Harriers took part in the Harrogate City Centre 10k, Ron Read, Jack Mason and Brian Hannah.

Durham City Harriers
The club scored a magnificent team victory in the Northern Women's League Division 4E at the Claireville Stadium, Middlesbrough. The team, a mixture of experience and young talented athletes making their way through the ranks, finished with 297 points, a resounding victory ahead of Jarrow and Hebburn AC (208), Blaydon Harriers 191) with Sunderland Harriers (116).

Elvet Striders
The recent Court Inn Clamber race around the Durham area, which was organised by the Striders, was won by Ian Crampton of Durham Harriers in 28:30. The second man, Mike Bennet of the host club, came home in 32:14.

Another female Strider who crossed the line first was Rebecca Adams this time in the Setmurphy 6km road race. Rebecca ran to a fine victory finishing in 26mins 12 sec.
At the New Maske Victorian 10mile race, in-form Rebbeca had another good result by finishing in 1:14:59 and fourth lady followed by Jan Young in 1:19:45 and Catherine Larkin Bramley was 1:37:21.
Shildon R & AC
The club competed at the AAA Under-15/17 Track & Field Championships held over two days at the Don Valley Stadium Sheffield on the 11th/12th August.
In heat five of the Under-17 mens 800m, Ben Finn finished eighth in a time of 2.16.77 to Dan Foley of Wolverhampton and Bilston AC.
In the Under-17 Women's 300m, in heat three, Natasha Meite finished sixth in a time of 45.15 to Jenny Christie of Leamington C and AC.
Richard Turner qualified for the semi-finals of the Under-17 Mens 400m when he ran in heat three finishing third in a time of 52.44 to Shane Smith of North Shields Polytecnic AC. In the semi finals Richard finished seventh in 54.02 to Richard Davenport of Gloucester AC.
In the heats of the Under-17 men's 100m, Tom Carroll finished second in heat six in a time of 11.25 to qualify for the semi finals. The winner was Lloyd Rice of Bristol AC. In the semi finals Tom finished eight place in a time of 11.37 to Jamie McNell of Sparkhill Harriers.
In the heats of the Under-15 Boys 1500m, Matthew Lomax finished in fifth place in a time of 4.27.07 to qualify for the final the following day. The winner was James Mitchell of Peterborough AC. In the final, Matthew finished ninth place in a time of 4.24.10, the winner being Ross Toole of Kilarchan AC.
On the Sunday, Tom Carroll ran in heat five of the Under-17 mens 200m and qualified for the semi-finals, finishing fifth in 23.08 to Peter Warke of Lagan Valley AC. In the second semi-final, Tom finished in sixth place in 22.90 to Daniel Cossins of Wessex and Bath AC.
Tom, for his efforts, gained Grade 1 times 11.25 in the 100m and also in the 200m with 23.08.
On the same Sunday, the club seniors competed at the Darlington 10k Road Race first back for the club was veteran Over-50 Max Lindford in 77th place in a time of 39.00.

The club's middle distance group resume their training sessions for the coming cross country season on Monday, August 20 at 6pm at the Stadium 2000, Shildon.
The clubs sprint group will start their training session in late September, with more details to be announced.
