SOME of the smallest and fastest police vehicles ever built will be appearing in public this weekend.
Durham Police's annual Bike Wise event will take place on Sunday, at Aykley Heads, Durham City.
It will feature the planet's fastest police bike, the Honda VTR SP1, which can reach speeds of up to 160mph.
It is the machine ridden by world superbike champion Colin Edwards.
The force has also been loaned one of the latest Mini Coopers to roll off BMW's production line. The car, launched this year, is decked out in Durham Constabulary's livery.
It has a top speed of 125mph, and costs about £14,000 to put on the road.
It has been touring the force area this week to promote road safety.
This year's event will also include a sky diving display by the force's newly-formed parachute display team, stunt riders and live music.
Bike Wise will run from 10am to 5pm.
Admission costs £1 for adults and children get in free.
