GREEN Barrow Mr Smee, from the Green Barrow pony stud at Staindrop, has rounded off a successful season by qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show at Wembley in October.
The two-year-old riding pony colt, owned and bred by Mrs Christine Duke and her husband Chris, booked his Wembley place when he was judged reserve supreme in-hand champion at the Scottish Horse Show in Edinburgh last Saturday.
Since a double success at the Red Rose county show in June, Mr Smee has gone on to win the overall youngstock championship at NCPA Staffs and was first riding pony stallion and reserve champion Welsh part-bred at the North of England in-hand championship show at Osbaldeston.
Further success followed as he took first and reserve champion Welsh part-bred at the Royal Lancs show and was champion 2/3-year-old colt and reserve champion Welsh part-bred at the NPS championship show at Malvern.
