A POLICE officer is urging South Tyneside businesses to help transform a disused area into a skateboarding park.
The site, which is next to Queen's Road Day Centre, in Jarrow, already boasts a new basketball court and football goals.
PC Julian Mason, community beat officer in Jarrow, said: "I am making a plea for cash because I think this is an ideal venture to give something back to the younger generation.
"It would have huge benefits, not only to those who use it, but also towards reducing crime and the fear of crime in surrounding areas."
