PHOTOGRAPHS of children in pit clothes playing cricket, 1880s miners in tartan and the local Second World War "dads army" are just a few of the images of life in a County Durham village shown for the first time in a new booklet.
The second series of pictures produced by the Leadgate Historical Society provides a visual snapshot of Leadgate, which is just outside Consett, from the last century to the present day.
Slightly older residents will recognise various landmarks including pubs, former parks, train station.
The booklet can be bought from society members and outlets in the village for £1.99
