AN animal lover is needed to come to the aid of faithful guide dog Harvest.
Harvest has been by the side of Northallerton resident Sheila Dent for the past six years, but is now retiring from guide dog work because of ill health.
Because she can no longer work and Mrs Dent is unable to take her out, Harvest is getting no exercise and a volunteer is needed to take the canine companion for walks.
Mrs Dent is also holding a street collection in Northallerton high street on Wednesday, September 5, to raise funds for the training of guide dogs.
She said: "Harvest is my second guide dog and I know it costs £10 a day to support a working guide dog partnership. This includes all training, feeding and vets' bills.
"My guide dog gives me independence and freedom and the least I can do is give up a few hours of my time to raise funds. I am hoping anyone with a few hours to spare on September 5 can come along and help me."
Anyone able to help with Harvest can contact Mrs Dent on (01609) 778281.
