A RESIDENTIAL estate is being turned into a film set this weekend by a group of artistic youngsters.
As part of a summer play-scheme, youngsters from Firthmoor, in Darlington, have been learning about video editing, costume making, animation and music.
Yesterday, work started on putting the youngsters' skills together to create a film based on the Wizard of Oz.
The filming will continue today, with an original musical score, recorded by members of the Northern Sinfonia and Darlington Orchestra, used as a backing track.
The film, and photographs taken during the recording, will be exhibited at Darlington Arts Centre in October as part of the Firthmoor Regeneration Arts Project and Oratorio.
The project has been coordinated by Kari Vickers, community arts officer at Darlington Borough Council, with help from youth workers and volunteers at Firthmoor Community Centre and funding from the Darlington Building Society.
