YOUNGSTERS learned how to turn rubbish into art at a workshop held as part of the Orange Darlington Festival.
Matt Hearn and Sarah Warden, two graduates from Newcastle University, showed the group how to create sculptures from recycled waste at Redhall Community Centre yesterday.
The workshop was a taste of what is to come from the artists, who will be demonstrating their skills in the Market Square during the annual Orange Darlington Festival, held to celebrate arts and entertainment.
They will make sculptures from recycled materials, using cling film to contain rubbish to create tall, elongated shapes in the style of Giacometti.
The festival is taking place next weekend, from Saturday to Monday.
