THE organiser of a support group for people with heart problems raised more than £300 by taking part in the fun run attached to the CD Bramall Ford Darlington 10km Road Run.
John Waterson, who runs the Darlington Cardiomyopathy Self Support Group, took part in the event on August 12, despite suffering from the condition himself.
He was helped around the route by his daughter, Lisa, and Maria Jones, a rehabilitation nurse at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
Mr Waterson said: "It was a great day and Radio Alpha encouraged the crowds to give me a cheer when I entered the home straight. I expect to have raised at least £300 for the association."
