A DALES town has been swept with French fever as it strengthens links with its continental counterpart.
Wolsingham has found a soulmate in the French town of Poix de Picardie, as preparations are made for visits between the two towns.
Bastille Day celebrations proved extremely popular in Wolsingham last month, with French food, wine and local produce playing a big part in the event, and shops and pubs joining in the celebrations.
On September 2, a group of people from Poix de Picardie will visit Wolsingham, and on September 14, brass musicians from Weardale will be making the trip across the channel.
The group will take part in a festival in the French town, in a trip funded by the Mayor of Poix de Picardie, Jack Pettigny.
The idea for the twinning came from the French Mayor, who suggested it during a visit to Durham City.
Wolsingham has a similar rural setting and population of about 2,000 people.
Dave Sugden, from the Town Twinning Association, said when the French party arrive, representatives of the two communities will sign a formal document making the twinning official.
