THE jury in the trial of two men accused of robbing a man who had just collected his benefit money was discharged yesterday.
Judge Peter Fox QC discharged the jury at Teesside Crown Court after a doctor told the court one of the defendants was too unwell to continue with the trial.
Lee Rice, 29, of Hatford Street, Middlesbrough, and Pelways Masih, 34, of Crescent Road in the town, were standing trial on a charge of robbery, accused of stealing Justin Forster's jacket, which contained his benefits book and birth certificate.
Mr Rice was also accused of robbing Mr Forster later the same day of £163 and of witness intimidation. Both men deny all charges.
The case is adjourned until Mr Masir is well enough to continue.
