A FINAL chapter has literally been written on a long gone football ground's history.
A book, The Trophy Room, is being launched at the site of the former Ayresome Park ground, the old home of Middlesbrough Football Club, now a housing an estate.
According to Cleveland Arts, neighbours living on the once hallowed turf were brought closer together by an 18-month-long public art project on the estate, culminating in the book, to be launched at the end of the month.
The artwork ranges from subtle sculpture to text sand-blasted into boundary walls and was funded by Wimpey Homes and Middlesbrough Borough Council and supported by Cleveland Arts.
Judith Winter, programme manager for commissions at Cleveland Arts, said: "This project has helped create a strong community on the new housing estate.
"It serves to show that art can help unite people.
"This book is a memento to the old ground and we hope football fans and residents will be able to enjoy the book and the artwork as much as they may have enjoyed going to matches at Ayresome."
