POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a hit-and-run collision involving a car and a pedal cycle.
The incident happened at 5pm yesterday, as the cyclist was travelling south along Newport Road, Middlesbrough, towards Newport Bridge.
The driver of a red Peugeot 205 appeared to overtake slow moving traffic and collided with the rear of the bike. He failed to stop, leaving the 43-year-old cyclist, from Middlesbrough, with a suspected fractured spine.
He was taken to Middlesbrough General Hospital where his condition is described as comfortable.
