They were both ordered to appear before Teesside Crown Court next Thursday.
Crossling was granted bail and Petch was remanded in custody. A third man, George Romaro Coleman, 41, of Thornton Street, North Ormesby, appeared in custody at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday charged with murdering market trader Mr Singh, who was also from North Ormesby.
All three are also charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Michael Moody, 54, who lived at the house in Errol Street.
Petch was also charged with a similar offence against a third man, Paul Thompson, the next day.
