PUPILS in Redcar and Cleveland have maintained a good standard with their GCSE results.
The provisional figure for the percentage of the year group achieving five or more A* to C grades at GCSE is 43 per cent, compared with last year's 45 per cent.
Maths improved, with 47.7 per cent gaining A* to C grades, compared to 44.5 per cent last year and in science the provisional 50.5 per cent is identical to last year.
Three schools, Nunthorpe, Laurence Jackson and Huntcliff, achieved their best ever results. The only disappointment among the core subjects was a drop to 46.7 per cent in English, compared to 55.1 per cent last year.
