SHOPPERS and supermarket staff joined forces yesterday to raise money for charity.
The fun day at Hurworth Community Centre was organised by staff from the Iceland store in Yarm Road, Darlington.
Before yesterday's event, about £13,000 had been raised by Iceland staff for cancer research.
Kath Smith, the store's customer service supervisor, said: "Over the past few years many of my family, friends and work colleagues have been affected in some way by cancer. When a very dear friends was diagnosed with cancer two years ago I felt helpless and decided to do the only thing I could think of to help, which was to raise money for the Cancer Research Campaign."
The fun day included live entertainment from the TFM radio roadshow, a craft fair, side-shows, a Punch and Judy show and prize games.
A free Stagecoach bus transported shoppers to and from the event in a shuttle service from the Yarm Road store
