A MEMBER of a family-run butchery business has decided to hang up her apron after 26 years.
However, although Margaret Guthrie, 60, has decided the time is right to retire as manageress of Dicksons' pork butchers in South Shields, she could not bear the thought of giving up altogether.
So she has decided to turn the clock back to when she first started in 1968, and become a Saturday girl.
Margaret joined Dicksons at their old Fowler Street shop in 1968, but left after a few years to start a family. She returned in 1975 and has been there since, working in the firm's Laygate shop where she was manageress for 12 years
