A COUPLE of Scout leaders were anything but prepared when they were given a surprise start to married life at the weekend.

Sarah Peart and William Tennant were greeted after their marriage service at St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington, by a guard of honour made up of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the 9th Darlington Scout troop.

The surprise was organised by the boys and their parents, who wanted to make Sarah and William's wedding day truly memorable.

Sarah, who work as a nursery nurse at the Kids and Co Nursery, in Darlington, and William, a self-employed builder, are both leaders for the Scout and Cub troops.

Sarah's mother, Enid Peart, said: "It was a total surprise for them.

"They came out of the church to be met by the guard of honour made up of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts - it was lovely.

"It was always going to be a special day, but to have all the boys there made it extra special."

The couple, who are both 22, had been engaged for three years.

They set off yesterday for a honeymoon in Whitby.
