A DOG which failed to make the grade to join the police is now looking for a new home.
Sam, a two-year-old German Shepherd, is being looked after by the National Animal Sanctuaries Support League (NASSL), near Darlington, after he was rejected as a police dog by Durham Constabulary.
Pauline Wilson of NASSL explained that he did not have the necessary attention span to make it into the force.
"He went off to train to be a police dog, because we thought that would be a good career for him, but unfortunately he didn't make the grade.
"Sam's got a great character, he's outgoing, very fun loving, and will need at least two good walks a day and with the right person he will make a lovely pet."
Sam was first taken in by the kennels when his owners' circumstances changed and they were no longer able to care for him.
Anyone able to offer him a home should contact NASSL on (01325) 321855 or Pauline Wilson on 07748 268822.
