A NATIONAL roadshow is to visit Darlington to encourage local people to take more care of the environment.
The roadshow, called Are You Doing Your Bit? is part of a national campaign aimed at ensuring everyone does something to help their local area.
The campaign concentrates on efforts that can be made to reduce pollution, be energy efficient, reduce waste and save water.
As part of the campaign, a roadshow is touring 20 towns and cities, to show people how easy, and fun it can be to go green.
The roadshow will reach Darlington next month, and will be in the town's Market Square on Friday, September 21, and at the Safeway supermarket car park near Feethams on Saturday, September 22.
As well as handing out promotional gifts and running games, the roadshow will include a team of experts offering environmental advice.
To mark the arrival of the roadshow, The Northern Echo has joined forces with Darlington Borough Council to find readers who are making an effort, however small, to help the environment.
Schools, youth groups, offices and individuals can be nominated for their projects, whether they involve recycling waste paper, walking to work or just making sure taps are turned off properly.
Anyone who is working to help the environment in any way can be nominated. The most inspired project will win the title of Darlington's Best Doing Your Bit supporter and some prizes presented at the town centre roadshow.
Nominations should be sent to: Doing Your Bit competition, The Northern Echo, PO Box 14, Priestgate, Darlington, DL1 1NF, before Monday September 17.
