A PUBLIC meeting is being held by MP Vera Baird to launch her campaign to get Redcar a swimming pool.
The meeting will be held on Saturday, at noon, in Redcar's Coatham Memorial Hall. It will be the first meeting of Get Redcar a Swimming Pool (Grasp) and all interested parties are expected to be there.
Ms Baird said: "As promised during the General Election campaign, I am acting on my constituents' calls for a swimming pool in Redcar.
"Funding is the greatest hurdle, so I have asked my researcher to examine and report back on the options as a matter of urgency.
"My staff will be setting out Grasp's main ideas, in partnership with Tees Valley Leisure, next week. I am very pleased to have them on board at such an early stage."
Redcar Rotarian Alan Brundall said: "A lot of people I speak to are annoyed that our youngsters don't have a local swimming pool.
"I am sure that Redcar Rotary Club will become actively involved in supporting the project."
