A GROUP which provides disabled people with leisure and sports opportunities has moved into new premises.
The Durham Area Disability Leisure Group (DADLG), which was based at Sacriston Community Centre, was offered accommodation at the Donald Owen Clarke Centre at the Riverside, in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, by the district council.
The group will now be able to offer members improved facilities and better access.
DADLG group coordinator Lynne Watson said: "We are delighted to be moving into such well-equipped new premises.
"Members will have access to some of the sports facilities, such as the excellent athletics track, not to mention easy access by bus, car or boat."
The group provides disabled people and their carers a range of activities, including cycling, horseriding and go-karting and also trains volunteers.
Ms Watson said: "Our cycle scheme called CycleAbility will be perfect for this new site as it is so safe and flat.
"Unfortunately this can't go ahead until we have purchased a suitable storage containter and fitted out our new workshop.
"We have had help from the Greggs Trust in the form of a grant for £500 towards running costs but we desperately need more funding."
