A FORMER factory could be demolished to make way for a housing estate - but not before a town's flood defences are built.
Malton Clothing Factory, in Norton, North Yorkshire, is up for sale, but the town's history of being hit by flooding has meant it has not yet attracted a buyer.
Estate agent Tom Penrose, of PPH Commercial, said: "The flooding issue has been a major stumbling block in selling this property."
The old factory and its land are for sale at an asking price of £350,000.
Mr Penrose said: "We have received a number of inquiries from developers wanting to take the site over.
"The most likely future of the site will be for the factory building to be demolished and replaced by a housing development.
"However, until the flood defences go up, this is unlikely to happen."
