A FAMILY is offering a reward after their pet macaw flew the nest.
The six-year-old bird, called Zac, escaped on Saturday from Nenthead Close, Great Lumley, near Chester-le-Street, County Durham.
Owner Lee Forster said: "She got out of the house and flew away. We haven't seen her since.
"She has never been out before and won't be able to fend for herself.
"We are very worried about her and would like to hear from anyone who has seen her.
"She could be tempted down with crisps and chocolate and just by people talking to her."
In the wild, macaws live in tropical rainforests but they are popular pets.
Zac, which was hand-reared by Mrs Forster and her husband, Paul, is blue with a gold chest.
The family is offering a reward to any one who discovers or catches Zac. They can be contacted on 0191-389 1631
