A HAMLET is to be extended after Stockton borough councillors agreed eight houses could be built.
The development at Aislaby Village, near Yarm, which dates back to Viking times, will be built to the south of Aislaby Road and to the north of Aislaby Manor.
At the moment, the land houses a paddock and some derelict and vacant barns.
Two agricultural cottages will have to be demolished to make way for the scheme.
