CONFIDENT Gary Bennett is still looking to add more firepower to his in-form Darlington squad.
The Quakers boss has been impressed with how quickly Danny Mellanby and Barry Conlon have gelled since their summer arrivals.
But Bennett, who takes his side to Lincoln City on Saturday, is determined to keep eyeing up new talent and he is aiming to land someone who can compete with his current front pair.
"We are still looking for another striker," confirmed Bennett who has had New Zealand-born forward Stuart Riddle on trial. "But we will only bring in a player if he is better than what we already have.
"Mellanby and Conlon are doing well and hopefully we can bring in someone else. We have got an eye on a player, but we will see.
"The player looks good but we are wanting to bring in someone who is hungry for the game, like a Mellanby or a Conlon."
And Bennett believes Conlon will go from strength to strength after scoring the winner against Bristol Rovers on Monday.
The 22-year-old has settled in well since his move from York and his manager is convinced that the Feethams faithful will see a lot more from the big man.
"All Barry has been missing from his game was a goal," said Bennett. "He has been working hard and linking well. But Barry has got a lot of talent and he deserves to be playing in a higher league.
"Now he's scored hopefully he will go on to get a few more."
The young players Bennett has in his squad are making an impression and have been a major factor in the early season form.
Richard Hodgson and Neil Wainwright are dangerous on the flanks and Bennett will not be afraid to push them further up the field. "Against Bristol we were forced into a change with Brian Atkinson hurting his ankle," he said.
"We brought on Mark Convery, who fitted in straight away, and asked Wainwright and Hodgson to play more like wingers than midfielders.
"That gave Mellanby licence to play off Conlon and I think we looked better, so that could be something we will try more often."
