AN American big top was pitched in Darlington yesterday when the circus came to town.
Uncle Sam's American Circus is visiting Darlington for the second time after making a successful debut last year.
The non-animal circus starts performances today at Morton Palms, in Yarm Road. It will run until next Monday.
There are a variety of daring and fun acts on offer, including a human cannonball, high-wire acrobats and a troop of clowns.
Ringmaster Gavin Brand said: "We had a great time in Darlington last year, so we were eager to come back again.
"Although there are some acts from last year, we also have new acts and the whole show is different."
Tickets can be bought from the booking office, off the A67, near the Morrisons supermarket, between 9.30am and 8pm.
Performances take place at 5pm and 7.30pm on weekdays, 2.30pm and 6pm on Saturday, 2.30pm and 5pm on Sunday, and 2.30pm and 6pm on Monday.
