POLICE in Teesdale are warning people who decide to take a swim during the hot weather to be extra vigilant.
Hundreds of people flocked to Whorlton Lido, near Barnard Castle, during the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Police are worried people are people not taking proper precautions and are concerned about the dangers of swimmers getting into difficulty at the picnic spot.
Sergeant Garry Hewitt, of Barnard Castle police, said: "During the hot weather we would just like to remind people who want to swim to take extra care.
"Whorlton Lido is a popular spot, and although it is not a notoriously dangerous place, we would urge swimmers to be safe."
