FIVE projects in the region have made it to the finals of this year's Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) awards. The awards are held to find the most outstanding buildings and conservation projects.
North-East projects on the shortlist are Newcastle International Airport and Central Square, Newcastle, in the building efficiency category. In the regeneration category are the Turning the Tide, coalfield coast regeneration scheme in County Durham, and Stocksfield Hall, in Northumberland.
In the building conservation category is the former Union club, now Wetherspoons, in Newcastle.
