A young artist has won a family trip on a Royal Navy ship thanks to her talent.
Hurworth Primary School pupil Rachel Alban was presented with the school prize for art on the last day of term.
The prize, sponsored by HMS Hurworth, which has close links with the Darlington village, is given to a year six pupil, who has worked hard and produced exceptional artwork during their time at school.
Rachel's mother, Louise, said: "The announcement was made in assembly on the last day of term and Rachel was very shocked and excited.
"Art is her favourite hobby and she really enjoyed it at school."
Rachel, 11, moves to Polam Hall School, in Darlington, for the new term, and hopes to continue her art studies there.
As well as receiving the HMS Hurworth art cup, Rachel and her family have been invited to go aboard the ship next time it is in Hartlepool.
The crew have also asked for a picture of Rachel to display on the ship.
