A LANDLADY feared for her life when a man burst into her premises with a sawn-off shotgun, a court heard yesterday.
Shaun Conroy, also known as Shaun Porritt, 32, burst into the Netherfields pub in Fosdyke Green, Middlesbrough, threatening everyone inside with the gun on Thursday, March 8, this year, it was alleged
Philip Lancaster, prosecuting, told Teesside Crown Court that Mr Conroy had been barred from the pub that afternoon after an argument.
Jane Crosby, the landlady, said when her husband, Kevin, barred Mr Conroy, of Fullbeck Road, Middlesbrough, he became angry and abusive before leaving.
He returned ten minutes later with the sawn-off shotgun inside his jacket. The court heard he burst through the double doors and walked towards the bar where Mrs Crosby stood. Mr Conroy then took out the gun and placed two shotgun cartridges on the bar, saying: "I'm going to blow you and your lad away. One's for you and one's for your lad.'"
Mrs Crosby said: "I thought he was going to kill us."
The court heard that Mr Conroy proceeded to wave the weapon around, pointing it at other customers in the pub and telling them to get out, before jabbing the gun into Mrs Crosby's forehead.
Mr Conroy denies making threats to kill, assault causing actual bodily harm, two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and one of affray.
The trial continues.
