A 19-YEAR-OLD has been charged with assaulting a 49-year-old man who later needed plastic surgery as a result of his injuries.
The teenage man from Burnhope near Stanley will appear before Peterlee magistrates tomorrow morning.
Detectives are still appealing for witnesses to the assault at the Red Tiles petrol station at Caysburn near Langley Park, County Durham on Saturday, August 12.
Detective Inspector Simon Orton said he was still hoping to trace a driver and front seat passenger of a red Vauxhall Corsa. The driver was in his 50s and was wearing a light coloured long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up.
He was clean shaven and had sandy or grey hair. His female passenger wore a red top and white trousers.
Police want to speak to the couple purely as witnesses. Call Consett CID on (01207) 504204.
