Despite losing one of its attractions to an emergency call, Glebe House Residential Home, Fishburn, raised £1,060 from a summer fair, far outstripping expectations.
The event, held on the green in front of the home, featured children's rides, craft stalls, and a fire engine, which had to leave to answer an emergency call.
There was also a performance by Fishburn Brass Band.
A spokesman for the home said: "The money has gone into the amenity funds of the home and it will be spent on whatever the residents want - trips, days out, fish and chips, Christmas events or anything."
Some of the money raised from the event has already been spent on garden furniture and a day trip to South Shields.
A new television for residents is next on the shopping list.
