A DOG training club is aiming for the top after qualifying for Crufts for the second year running.

Members of the Barney Bullets flyball team, which is part of the Barnard Castle Dog Training Club, in County Durham, hope to snatch a winners' medal when they compete at the biggest dog show in the world next March.

Last year, the team managed to win through to the semi-finals of the flyball competition, putting up a valiant effort against the eventual winners.

The team is training for the competition after qualifying at a Dog in Need event at Suffolk showground, in Ipswich.

Despite being down to only four dogs, from their previous choice of six, the team came second out of 16 teams.

Club secretary Gina Russell said they were eager to reach the finals this year.

She said: "We want to go one better and have a shot at taking the title."

The training club will be running a dog agility show tomorrow at Pecknell Farm, in Lartington, with hundreds of dogs expected to take part. The show will run from 8.30am to 5pm.
