Darlington's Chris Gowling tasted victory for the second successive Sunday following his River Wear glory to take the Yarm AA Danby Cup on the Tees, writes JEFF HERBERT.
The recently re-opened Fisheries Bend since foot-and-mouth restrictions were introduced was included in the match length for the first time this season but too much flow and bright conditions checked sport.
Chris now of Yarm AA drew peg 95 a deep water peg and didn't think much of his chances. However a late burst in the final hour brought four unexpected bream averaging 1.8.0 added to a few bits to give the delighted angler 8.15.0 to pole and double red maggot on the hook.
Peter Nixon of Newman Scott targeted bream off peg 148 on the Levenmouth but finished with all perch in his net on the pole and worm to fill runner up position with 8.0.0.

He managed to land one but unfortunately 4 slipped away and a steady supply of perch 12 in all saved the day pushing him comfortably ahead on 11.6.0.
In contrast Boroughbridge's Gary Lumsden relied mainly on chub to make the grade and aided his team to victory on the day.
