PAUL Bryson has resigned as manager of Chester-le-Street due to his coaching commitments with Sunderland FC Academy.
Bryson runs the Sunderland U13s who now train on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
"It means I will miss all Chester-le-Street's midweek games, and I could not continue to give the job 100 percent commitment," said Bryson.
Assistant Stuart Sherwood has taken over as the Cestrians' manager, with Willie Ferry as his assistant.
Bryson has been in charge of Chester-le-Street for just over four years.
He took the side to the Albany Northern League second division championship in his first season, guiding them to third place in division one the following year when Chester also reached the semi-finals of the Durham Challenge Cup.
On Monday, Durham City were at home to Chester-le-Street when early goals by Brightwell and Ludlow put City 2-0 in the lead at the interval.
The second period was more even with Chester pulling a goal back through substitute Carter.
Edgecombe twice went close in the latter stages, once hitting the post and the second being stopped by a tackle from Colin Wake after Edgecombe had rounded the goalkeeper.
On Saturday, Chester-le-Street are away to Eccleshill in the FA Cup, ko 3pm.
Durham City have announced details of their sportmans' dinner at the Ramside Hotel on Friday, October 5.
