Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor both had keeper trouble at the weekend, writes RAY SIMPSON.

After winning at Hucknall on Saturday, Bishops went to Blyth on Monday, but finished the game with only ten players on the field after using all their three subs, before keeper David Campbell received a cut eye.

They took the lead when Carl Chillingsworth scored after 69 minutes, but then Carl Pepper levelled with a left foot shot from 30 yards after 77 minutes.

Campbell, signed during the summer from Whitby, then had to go off injured, before Craig Skelton scored the winner in a frantic finish.

Spennymoor, meanwhile, were forced to use injured keeper Stuart Dawson between the posts for Monday's game at Ossett Albion.

Dawson was injured in a clash with teammate Mark Taylor on Saturday in the win over Lincoln United, but because Moors were unable to sign a replacement in time, Dawson also had to play at Ossett Albion on Monday.

Moors lost the game 3-1 after pulling level at one point through a goal from Andrew Banks, but two goals inside a minute gave Ossett the points.

Whitby Town's home form, which was poor last season, needed a last minute penalty from Dave Logan to give them a point at home to Bradford Park Avenue.

Former Darlington striker Robbie Painter scored one of the goals for Gateshead in their 2-0 home win over Emley, Paul Thompson scoring the other.

In shades of the infamous George Shepherd case and Bishop Auckland a few years ago, Belper striker Ross May is considering legal action against an opponent after he broke his leg in the First Division match against Ossett Albion last week.

The match was abandoned after an ambulance was brought on to the field, and the League have said they will launch an investigation if they are asked to by the Football Association.
