Boddingtons Durham Coast League Under-13s

Murton celebrated winning the championship when they defeated Marsden by 40 runs in their final game of the season.

When they batted first Murton posted the useful total of 105 for eight mainly due to the efforts of Martin Stephenson who top scored with 42 and Lee Smith (20). Snellar took three for 20, Mann returned two for 26 and Quinn had two for seven for Marsden who in reply were restricted to 65 for six as Robbie Elliott captured two for 14 runs.

Seaham Park completed their season defeating Castle Eden by five wickets. Castle Eden totalled 55 which included 32 by Bradley and for Seaham Park Thompson returned the excellent figures of four for four, Cain had two for one and Robson two for 16. Responding, Seaham Park accumulated the necessary runs losing five wickets, three of them going to Bradley for six runs.

Boddingtons Durham Coast League Under-18s

Ian end-of-season rearranged fixture Seaham Park had the better of Boldon CA winning by seven wickets.

When they made first use of the wicket Boldon CA found the Seaham Park attack in top form and Michael McGinn returned the remarkable figures of five wickets for just seven runs. He was ably assisted by Andrew Docherty whose three wickets cost just 11 runs and the highest score for Boldon came from Tony Lincoln with 19.

In reply Seaham Park easily accumulated the necessary 53 runs losing just three wickets as Shaun Sutherland, who has shown good promise during the summer, made the game's top score of 29.

Boddingtons Durham Coast League Under-15s

Dawdon completed a good season defeating Ryhope by four wickets when Jamie Greenwood carried his bat for 35 and Stephen Gale was 22 not out. When they batted first, Ryhope posted 75 for six of which Stephen Scott top scored with 23 while for Dawdon Karl Scott, Peter Thompson and Greenwood all took one wicket.

Murton had the better of Hylton winning by nine wickets after restricting their opponents to 69 for six of which Conlin top performed scoring 31. Graeme Hodgson, Elliott Hughes and Kevin Mawhinney all claimed a wicket in the Murton attack and when they replied Murton romped to victory losing just one wicket.

Hodgson was by far Murton's top performer with the bat, hitting one six and seven boundaries in 48 not out and he shared an unbroken second wicket partnership with Mawhinney, who added 14 not out. Kit Allan took the one Murton wicket to fall for 18 runs.

Inter-league Trophy

The Readers Durham County League had six wickets to spare defeating the Fosters Northumberland Tyneside Senior League in the Under-13 section. Batting first the N and T League ended on 114 for five which included 41 not out by Andrew Smith of Lintz. Craig Burke was the second top scorer and the Sacriston youngster contributed 19 while for the County League Carl Turner took two of the five wickets to fall for 16 runs and then scored an unbeaten 36 leading his side to victory.

Stephenson also batted well, contributing an undefeated 35 and for the N and T League Burke took two for 31.

The Boddingtons Durham Coast League and the Federation Special Durham Senior League were then involved in an exciting match which the Coast League won by just two runs.

Faced with a target of 129, the Senior League were restricted to 126 for eight which included 45 by Robertson and 27 from Strange. Jonathan Loach returned two for 27 in six overs and Scott Borthwick had two for 18, also in a six over spell for the Coast League.

When they made first use of the wicket the Coast League posted 128 for nine and Craig Hughes was the top scorer with 37 which included one six and five boundaries. Scott Borthwick contributed 19 and for the Senior League Anderson picked up three wickets for just 16 runs.

In the Under-15 section, the Fosters Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League defeated the Boddingtons Durham Coast League by six runs. Batting first the N and T League realised 138 with David Stewart taking five boundaries in 41 compiled from 49 deliveries. Andrian Leathley added 21, with three fours and for the Coast League Carl Bellerby claimed three for 43 runs in seven overs and Jamie Greenwood took two for 43.

Replying, the Coast League were always with a chance but when the overs expired they were only 132 for seven of which Paul Howey scored 33 not out from 77 balls. Bowman added 20, with four boundaries, 39 deliveries he received and for the N and T League Stephen Smith had three for six from seven overs and Martin Hubber took three for 31 from seven overs.

Fosters North East Premier League

Under-15s

Norton went down by 122 runs when they played Tynemouth who, batting first, produced the formidable total of 241 for eight.

Ian Purdy, who has enjoyed an excellent season for Tynemouth, rattled 13 boundaries in 99 and Tom Pollock contributed 79 with ten fours. David Nowell claimed three for 30 in six overs and Ben Duncan had three for 39 from an eight over spell when they shared in the Norton attack.

Replying, Norton ended on 119 with Richard Appleton and Duncan both scoring 27 and Nowell 25. Purdy claimed two for 14 runs in four overs and Michael Phillips had four for 32 from his eight over stint.

In another match, Tynemouth scored even more freely against Gateshead Fell putting on 286 for eight.

Ben Debnam had one six and 12 fours carrying his bat for 100 and Purdy scored 42 with seven fours. Chris Dunlop was also among the runs hitting four boundaries scoring 39 and for Gateshead Fell Errington had two for 11 from three overs and Majid took three for 39 in nine overs.

Despite Richard Smith producing a wonderful innings when he rattled 17 boundaries scoring 127, Gateshead Fell made only 178 as Purdy captured four wickets for 26 runs in nine overs and Stephen Harrison had three for 30 from seven overs.
