A THEME park worker arrested over the death of a student in a rollercoaster accident will not face any criminal charges, police confirmed yesterday.
The man was arrested just days after 20-year-old Gemma Savage was involved in an incident on the Treetop Twister ride at the Lightwater Valley park, near Ripon, North Yorkshire.
Miss Savage, who was a student at Durham University's campus in Stockton, suffered severe injuries in the accident, on June 20, and was airlifted to hospital, where she died.
The engineer, in his 40s and from the Harrogate area, was due to answer police bail on Tuesday, but this has been cancelled.
A joint investigation into the incident is still being carried out by North Yorkshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive.
Miss Savage had been visiting the theme park with friends to celebrate the end of her second year at university, where she was reading bio-medical sciences.
The white-knuckle Treetop Twister attraction had only been open for about three weeks before the accident happened.
