Two summer season shows are ending early at a North Yorkshire town.
The Krankies' run at Scarborough's Spa Theatre has closed a month early and is to be replaced by a 1940s-style variety show called We'll Meet Again, while The Good Old Days has been dropped two weeks before the end of its scheduled run.
The announcement has come amid reports that seaside theatres are suffering a decline in audiences.
Tony Peers, theatre impresario and comedian, who has staged his own floor show Viva Las Vegas at the Corner Cafe, said: "Audience figures have been very poor - from no one at all to 50 people."
He said the problem was the amount of similar entertainment that was on offer at scarborough.
"The cake is being spread too thinly," he said
